Overlay & History
Quick Access overlay
Section titled “Quick Access overlay”After capture (and some recording finishes), a Quick Access thumbnail can appear in a screen corner — the shot stays at hand without opening Finder.
Typical actions:
- Copy, save to default folder
- Drag to chat, Finder, design tools
- Open annotate from the thumbnail
- Pin to screen
- Hover for size/format info
Settings control corner position, thumbnail size, auto-close delay (hover can pause the timer), and whether to show the overlay at all. URL action=copy etc. skips it.
Overlays appear on the display where capture happened.
History
Section titled “History”- Reopen overlay, delete, reveal in Finder.
- Free: about 50 items and 7 days (older entries pruned).
- Plus / Pro: higher limits.
If you dismiss the overlay, history is the fallback to recover the last shot.
vs selection bar
Section titled “vs selection bar”When overlay is off or you used action=copy, the selection bar may still handle copy/save; saved files still appear in history.
